Restart AXIS Webcam via FTP

If you are unable to connect to the http web interface, some AXIS webcams have the ability to reboot via FTP

Step 1: Connect to the IP address using the FTP command:

ftp 192.168.231.31

The connection will be established and you will be prompted for the username.

Connected to 192.168.231.31 (192.168.231.31).
220 AXIS V5915 PTZ Network Camera 5.75.1.10 (2018) ready.

Step 2: Enter the username and press enter/return.

Name (192.168.231.31:root): root

The username will be confirmed before prompting for a password.

331 User name okay, need password.
Password:

Step 3: Enter the Password and press enter/return. If the password is correct, the system will login.

230 User logged in, proceed.
Remote system type is UNIX.
Using binary mode to transfer files.

Step 4: At the FTP prompt enter the command “quote site reboot” and press enter/return.

ftp> quote site reboot
200 Command okay.

Step 5: Re-enter the same command “quote site reboot” and press enter/return.

ftp> quote site reboot
221 Goodbye.
ftp> 

The AXIS camera will logout and begin to restart.
