One of my clients had a Windows virtual machine that was running super slowly when removing in, transferring and working with network databases. Looking in the Virtual Machine Manager settings and realized it was using the e1000e DRIVER and not the rtl8139 driver which is known to work better with Windows virtual machines. Changing this made the VM go from K transfer speeds to M transfer speeds.
